Dhorpatan: another place for visit

Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve adjoins Rukum,Myagdi and Baglung districts in Dhaulagiri Himal Range in West Nepal.Putha ,Churen, and Gurja Himal extend over the northen boundari of the reseerve.



Dhorpatan was established in 1983 and gazetted in 1987.Management objecives of the reserve allow sports hunting and preserve a representative high altitude ecosystem in west nepal.

How to get Dhorpatan?
Public Bus service is available from kathmandu to Tansen -Tamgash Gulmi from where the reserve HQ is three day walk via Burtibang. Air service links Baglung from Kathmandu and Pokhara .The reserve HQ could be reached in 4 days walk from Balewa-Baglung.

A Public bus can be taken to Baglung from Pokhara followed by 4 days walk via Baglung Beni-Darbang-lumsung and jaljala to reach Dhorpatan. Charted service helicopter may be available on request from kathmandu.
